More Prototypes: X-5 and X-6

Here are two more "Prototypes," X-5 and X-6. They both used a RCX and a NXT that did not communicate. More information on them can be found in the earliest posts of this blog.

The Car

Also during the prototype stage, young humanoid made a car for a stuffed animal (named "Smash") of his. Not for me! Humph! In any case, it was pretty neat. The placement of the NXT brick was creative, and the steering wheel turned with the wheels. It was programmed to avoid obstacles.

The School "Helper" Turret

Sometime around the prototype stage, young humanoid made a turret that was supposed to help you in school. He made it for a challenge posted on that one website I had stated before (http://www.mindstorms.com/) The turret could dispense pencils, (not) rotate and raise a hand. The main problem with this bot is that it could not rotate clockwise.

The Prototype Stage!

Around the time that young humanoid built these projects, I suppose he felt limited by the amount of motors that the NXT can handle. So, he started building huge robot using studded and non studded pieces-and using the RCX as well as the NXT. Unfortunately, none of these robots were programed because young humanoid found it hard to make the RCX communicate with the NXT. Here's the first one, a robot that was supposed to have the ability to move, move an arm up and down, rotate the arm's wrist and open and close the arm's claw. Here it is:
The NXT light sensor near the RCX was supposed to be the way that the RCX and the NXT communicated (via the RCX's IR light emitter and receiver) but it did not work.

Making Three Motors into Four

Well, this bot does not exactly do what the title says, but it was supposed to do something like it. Young humanoid was looking on the same MINDSTORMS site as I mentioned before and he saw an incredible robot that, simply put, made three motors run four functions. Young humanoid tried to copy this, but failed horribly. Here's the picture, anyway.
